Bergstrom Shatters All-Time Scoring Record

Boys Hockey

Coming into this season everyone knew that Pine City's all-time scoring record was at risk of being broken this season by Jonah Bergstrom. Going into the Legacy Christian Academy game, Bergstrom was 11 points back from the record and many people perceived the record would fall in a couple weeks. Bergstrom scored a hat trick and added three assists in that game to give him 195 career points. Pine City traveled to Breezy point on Tuesday night and Jonah was sitting 5 points away from the record. Not impossible to reach, but it was going to be difficult. It wasn't. After picking up an assist in the first period Jonah netted three goals in the second and headed into the third period tied for the all-time record. Just a few minutes into the third period Jan Zahradka scored a goal that came from a pass from Jonah and Bergstrom broke the all-time scoring record the same way he gained many of those points, by making those around him better. Pine City now has a new all-time leading scorer and if you ask anyone who is close to the program, you couldn't ask for a better person to be the face of the sport of hockey in Pine City.

Jonah's record breaking performance came when the Dragons picked up a very important Section 5A victory against the Norther Lakes Lightning 9-2.

Dragon Scoring:

Jonah Bergstrom HAT TRICK, 2A

Jan Zahradka 2G, 2A

TJ Roth 1G, 2A

Ethan White 1G

Jordan Stich 1 G

Kyle Wiener 1G

Alex Laven finished with 26 saves

Pine City has now won five in a row and will travel to Highland Park on Friday.
