Boys Basketball
The Pine City boys basketball team ended their season Wednesday night with a 50-42 loss to Eden Valley-Watkins at St. John's University.
The Section 6AA semifinal was about as close of a game as you can get with neither team seeing a double-digit lead throughout.
Eden Valley-Watkins made it clear that they were not going to let Pine City shoot the 3-ball, but the Dragons played tough defense to keep themselves in the game heading into the locker room at half down 23-21.
The Eagles pulled away late in the second half, but Pine City fought back hard pulling themselves back into the game, but they weren't able to completely close the gap and eventually just ran out of time.
The Dragons struggled shooting in the game and weren't able to get their 3-pointers or layups to fall which was their main focus all season long.
Eden Valley-Watkins advanced to the section championship game against St. Cloud Cathedral. The Dragons end the season with a record of 23-6.
