The Hinckley-Finlayson Jaguars have found themselves just one win away from the elusive State Tournament. After a successful regular season, that saw Hinckley-Finlayson with share of the conference title, the Jaguars have made it to the section championship.
While nobody can take away from the Jaguars their success this season, a trip to the State Tournament with a win tonight would push them to that next level of success and put them in an elite class of teams. The Jaguars sit with a record of 25-4 and have won all of their section playoff games by a double-digit deficit.
Hinckley-Finlayson will meet up with Cromwell-Wright. The Cardinals are 23-6 and have had a tougher time getting through their sub-section. It took two overtimes for Cromwell-Wright to defeated Browerville-Eagle Valley in the sub-section semifinals. Then the Cardinals knocked off Nevis 55-50 in the sub-section championship.
The Jaguars and Cardinals have three mutual opponents and Hinckley-Finlayson holds the advantage there. The Jaguars went 3-0 in games vs mutual opponents while the Cardinals went 1-2 beating East Central and losing to Moose Lake-Willow River and Barnum.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 from Crosby-Ironton high school and the game can be heard on 100.9 FM and wcmpradio.com
