Section 5A
The Hinckley-Finlayson Jaguars were granted the Section 5A Sub-Section Runner Up trophy after defeating Braham Thursday night 11-6 in Mora. After defeating, East Central and Isle the Jaguars lost in the Sub-Section championship game 4-3 to the #4 seed McGregor and found themselves facing a familiar opponent in the playbacks.
The Bombers were coming off a walk-off 12-9 win over Isle where Emily Lindquist hit a three-run home run to keep the season alive.
Hinckley-Finlayson got the better of Braham to advance to play Pine River-Backus on Tuesday in Brainerd. The Jaguars need to win four more games before making it to the State Tournament.
Section 7AA
The Mora Mustangs made the long drive to Cohasset on Thursday to take on #1 seed International Falls. The Broncos were just too much for the Mustangs defeating them 5-2. Later that day Mora would fall to Proctor 7-3 ending their season.
Section 7AAA
North Branch finds themselves in a good position to make the State Tournament earning the #1 seed in their section. They defeated Princeton 9-1 in the first round to advance to take on Hermantown at Braun Park on Saturday.
