East Central Minnesota Well Represented at State Track


Track and Field

Athletes from around the WCMP listening area will be competing in this year's MSHSL State Track and Field contest on Friday and Saturday at Hamline University.

Pine City

The Dragons send sophomore Alaina Steele to the State Tournament to compete in the 800m run. In sections, Steele ran a 2:20.27 a time good for 8th best in the tournament. This is her second trip to the State Tournament. She placed ninth two years ago as an eighth grader.

Mora

The Mustangs have four athletes competing in this year's State Tournament. Cal Wright, Nate Williams, Cooper Lennox, and Idris Anderson represent Mora.

Cal Wright is competing in the 100m run, 200m run, and 400m run. Nate Williams competes in the 800m run. Cooper Lennox is running the 1600m and 3200m and Idris Anderson will be competing against Wright in the 100m run.

The Mustangs won their section as a team.

Braham

Hanna Cornelius and Calvin Engberg will represent Braham at State. Cornelius is running the 100m, 200m, and 400m while Engberg is running the 800m.

East Central

Jace Schutt is the lone Eagle competing this year. He will take his talents to the Long jump competition.

Cambridge-Isanti

The Bluejackets are sending several relay teams to this year's State Tournament. Their 4x100m relay team of Tom Holmberg, Harrison Grandgenett, Dylan Jones, and Jett Gaudette are racing with Gaven Ziebarth and Kaden Slepica are alternates. The 4 x 200m Relay team consists of Tom Holmberg, Dylan Jones, Stephen Smith, Harrison Grandgenett and Alex Thompson and Dylan Larson are alternates. And finally the 4 x 400m Relay team is Dylan Larson, Cole Larson, Levi Wilson, Stephen Smith and Mason Friesz and Tom Holmberg are alternates.

The Bluejackets will also send Ryley Nelson and Blaze Krueger to compete in the shot put.
