The Hinckley-Finlayson Jaguars recently have been no stranger to trips to the State Tournament. The basketball team recently took a trip to the State Tournament, the baseball team was there in 2016 and now the baseball team is heading back.
The Jaguars find themselves at 14-4 on the season after running through the Section 5A tournament fairly easily. Hinckley-Finlayson hasn't lost in over a month and they weren't particularly close to losing in the playoffs. The only team to come close to Hinckley was Braham who the Jaguars defeated 3-0. Hinckley-Finlayson handled their championship game opponent fairly easily winning over Pine River-Backus 9-3.
Hinckley-Finlayson now looks to improve off of 2016's State Tournament run where they finished in fourth. The Jaguars defeated Legacy Christian Academy in the first round before losing to Parkers Prairie in the semifinals and Adrian in the third place game.
This year's first round opponent is #2 seed Sleepy Eye. The Indians from Section 2A are 16-5 on the season. They come in to the season ranked 3rd in the QRF rankings, but beat #1 ranked BOLD twice in the section playoffs. Sleepy Eye is a school located Southwest of the Twin Cities and has an enrollment of 150 students.
The Jaguars will play the Indians at 3:00 on Thursday from Chaska Athletic Park. The game can be heard on 106.5 FM/AM1350 and wcmpradio.com
