A man is in custody after a car chase that exceeded 100 mph and crossed multiple counties.
Early Tuesday morning, Chisago County Sheriff's Deputies were alerted of a gas drive off at a Holiday Gas Station in North Branch. Deputy Martin was in the area and saw a car matching the description of the report heading north on I-35.
The Deputy then attempted a traffic stop. The suspect failed to stop and proceeded to accelerate at a high rate of speed. The suspect who was later identified as 40-year-old Timothy Lee Olson exited I-35 at Rush City and then later in Rock Creek.
After exiting at Rock Creek, Olson continued northbound in the southbound lanes. He turned the lights on his vehicle off as a further attempt to evade deputies. Olson exited at Pine City where he rammed Deputy Martin's squad car and then headed southbound on the northbound lanes.
The vehicle was finally stopped by a pit maneuver after it reentered Chisago County. Olson then fled on foot in the area of Forrest Blvd. and 400 St. Deputies aided by a K9 unit chased Olson. The K9 was able to subdue Olson for authorities to take him into custody.
Timothy Lee Olson is charged fleeing in a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, 4th-degree assault of a peace officer, fleeing on foot, obstruction with force, and driving after revocation plus three more felony warrants.
