Drivers are to expect heavy traffic I-35 between Harris and the Chisago/Pine County line this spring due to road construction.
Crews will be working on the interstate's concrete pavement with a goal of the work is to improve the smoothness of the driving surface. Drainage and lighting will also be updated during the project.
During the construction, the highway will be reduced to a single lane in both directions.
A press release from MnDOT says that crews will need to do some temporary ramp closures that may last up to a month at a time, but access to Rush City will be maintained during the construction.
The construction will go until the fall of 2019.
