It was a successful weekend of wrestling for several East Central Minnesota wrestling teams as they competed in the individual wrestling tournaments for a chance to go to the State Tournament. The Mora Mustangs already qualified for a spot in the Class AA team State Tournament and they saw even more success this season qualifying eight wrestlers for the individual tournament.
Section 7A
Rush City-Braham qualified one wrestler for the individual tournament. Daniel Mielke placed second in the 160 weight class.
Section 4AA
North Branch qualified five wrestlers for the individual tournament.. Brandt Bombard placed first in 126. Josh Logan placed second in 132. Austin Sonnek placed second in 145. Trevor Anderson placed second in 152. And Brandon Swanson placed first in 285.
Section 7AA
Mora qualified eight wrestlers for the State Tournament. Avery Nelson placed second in 106. Tucker Hass placed 2nd in 126. Ryan Nosbush placed 2nd in 132. Jon Smith placed 1st in 152. Austin Voss placed first in 160. Danny Schroeder placed 2nd in 170. Jake Nowling placed 2nd in 195. And Tanner Grangruth placed 1st in 285.
Pine City/Hinckley-Finlayson qualified three wrestlers for the State Tournament. Will fix placed second at 113. Justin Matson placed second at 220. And Robert Decker placed second at 285.
Section 7AAA
Cambridge-Isanti qualified three wrestlers for the State Tournament. Tate Jorgenson placed second in 152. Jimmy Brown placed 1st in 170. Wyatt Kruse placed first in 285.
The team state wrestling tournament begins Thursday, February 28th, and the individual tournament begins on Friday at the Xcel Energy Center.
