The Pine City Dragons are coming off a season where they finished 10-10 overall and ended the year with a first round playoff loss to Moose Lake-Willow River. Pine City will be adding some new players into the mix this year as they look to improve off that record.
2019 Pine City Baseball Preview with Monty Peterson:
What are you most excited for this year?
We're excited to build on the momentum we created last season and to see younger guys step into new positions. We finished the season with 10 wins and 10 losses overall. We were 7 and 4 in the conference and finished in 3rd place. We look to improve on those records this season.
How is the roster shaping up? Do you have a lot of new players? Are you returning a lot of players? Younger? Older? Etc.
We will have a young roster with many new players stepping into contribute. We have one returning senior and three returning juniors who saw Varsity playing time last season.
Who are a couple athletes that will stand out?
Nick Hansmann will be our senior leader. He's a pitcher/infielder. He's our most experienced player and will provide leadership for our team.
Duke Waxberg/Gabe Westbrook/Luke Fabini- These 3 juniors were Varsity players last year and will step into leadership roles this season.
What are your goals?
Our goals are to continue to develop our young players and to finish with a winning record this season.
We want our athletes to a part of a positive team experience.
Favorite upcoming games, matches, or meets?
We're looking forward to (dry) spring weather and getting outside to play games!
Anything else you want people to know about your team?
I want people to know that we're excited about the direction our program is going and that we have a lot of athletes with potential to be good baseball players.
