Rockin' Rush City Returns to City Park

This weekend Rush City will be home to a revitalized old favorite with Rockin' Rush City in the Park.

Born from the Rush City Music and Arts festival, Rockin' Rush City will be the first time the music festival and car show will be back in the Rush City Park.

"We had done the Rush City Music and Art Festival for almost 20 years, and within the last couple years, it had faded away," said Interim Chamber of Commerce Director JoAnn Belau. "We had some community members who really wanted to see that come back and come back in the park."

The festival is now coming back with the new name and new local focus.

An exciting addition to the park is a brand new bandshell which was built with the help of a number of local business.

Belau said, "Todd Johnson had this vision of getting a bandshell built, so he went around to local businesses and organizations to get donations in order to make it happen."

Starting at noon, there will be a car show until 4:00 p.m. and kids activities from 1:00 to 3:00. There will be three bands playing the bandshell: Relax with Max (a Rush City alumni), Time Bandits, and Trilogy.

Rockin' Rush City in the Park is free to attend and will be held on Saturday, August 17 from noon to 12 a.m.
