Mora Looks to Use Strong Offseason to Improve in 2019

2019 Mora Volleyball Preview with head coach Lisa Gustafson

What are you most excited for this year?

Our program is excited to rebuild after a tough 2018 season. We are showing improved court chemistry, defensive play, and hitting ability.

What will be your biggest challenge?

Our biggest challenge is finding consistency in our play. We need to put all aspects of the game together to be successful. We aim to not have an "off-game" in any area of play.

How is the roster shaping up? Do you have a lot of new players? Are you returning a lot of players? Younger? Older? Etc.

We are returning several players in all positions - there are 7 seniors this year. There are also several younger players vying for varsity positions that will greatly impact our play.

Who are a couple athletes that will stand out?

Hailyn Bos will be a senior middle blocker/hitter. She will be a 3 year starter. Hannah Bos will also be returning in the OH/RH role. Mikala Peterson and Lauren Berry will handle the setting responsibilities. Elian Schritz, Sage Lukenbill, Abby Szoka, and Erin Radeke look to be top hitters for the varsity. Lanah Ingebrand, Alyssa Pasillas, and Grace Anderson will lead the defensive end.

Favorite upcoming games, matches, or meets?

We start with a tourney at Howard Lake-Waverly on Friday, 8/23. We also look forward to our home tourney thelast Saturday of September. Conference rivals include Foley and Milaca - always big games.

Anything else you want people to know about your team?

Players have worked hard in the offseason to make improvements and strengthen skills. We aim for a top conference finish.
