High School Football Week Four Update


We have reached the halfway point of the regular season. Here's where your favorite teams stand:

Pine City 1-2

QRF Ranking: 26th in State 5th in Section 5AAA

The Dragons played rival Braham to open up the season. In a close battle the Dragons fell 24-21. The Dragons then played in Two Harbors in another three point game, Pine City would lose 20-17. The Dragons finally got themselves in the win column last Friday as they beat Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin 24-16 at home. Pine City travels to Crosby-Ironton this Friday trying to notch their second win on the season.

Braham 3-0

QRF Ranking: 1st in State 1st in Section 7A

Braham is coming off a 20-16 win over Rush City last Friday night. Braham has win against Pine City, and Chishom this season. They play Deer River this Friday at home.

Rush City 3-1

QRF Ranking: 23rd in State 6th in Section 4AA

Rush City played its first three games on the road against Mesabi East, Virginia, and North Woods. They came out of the long road trip unscathed as they played the Bombers last Friday. Who they would fail to beat in a close game 20-16. Rush City hopes to get back into the win column this Friday against Hinckley-Finlayson.

Hinckley-Finlayson 2-1

QRF Ranking: 23rd in State 3rd in Section 7A

Hinckley-Finlayson opened up the season with a tough loss against Crosby-Ironton. The Jaguars have since shut out their last two opponents: East Central 20-0, Chisholm 46-0. They play the Rush City Tigers on Friday.

East Central 1-2

QRF Ranking: 44th in State 5th in Section 7A

The Eagles had a tough start to the season. Falling in their first two games against Eveleth-Gilbert 40-14 and Hinckley-Finlayson 20-0. East Central did get their first win against Barnum last week 6-0. They're hoping to get another win this week against Chisholm.

Mora 3-0

QRF Ranking: 10th in State 2nd in Section 5AAA

The Mora Mustangs couldn't have asked for a better way to start the season. Three straight win against North Branch, Eveleth-Gilbert, and Mesabi East. The Mustangs play the Esko Eskimos Friday in hopes of staying unbeaten.

North Branch 1-2

QRF Ranking: 36th in State 4th in Section 7AAAA

North Branch opened the season against Mora in a defensive battle, the Vikings fell short 22-14. North Branch would get themselves to .500 on the year as they beat Proctor at home 29-9. But the Vikings ran into a tough Hermantown team and lost on the road 28-12. North Branch hopes to even their record this week as they play Duluth East.

Cambridge-Isanti 1-2

QRF Ranking: 31st in State 4th in Section 7AAAAA

The Bluejackets started the season with a win over Duluth East 42-28. But they have not faired to well in their last two games falling to Monticello 48-6 and to Rogers 42-14. The Bluejackets hope to win this Friday at their homecoming game against Chisago Lakes.
