Mora hosted Aitkin for the regular season finale last night.
Aitkin got on the board first, a rushing touchdown by Carter Dox, giving them the early 6-0 lead. Later in the first quarter Jake Ince ran in a touchdown from twenty nine yards out, Gobblers converted on the two point attempt and pushed their lead to 14-0 going into the second quarter. Mora would finally get themselves into the endzone on a Jeff Lilienthal receiving touchdown making it 14-6. The Gobblers answered with a receiving touchdown of their own from Gabe Long, making it 22-6 at halftime. Mora scored the only points of the third quarter, on a fourth down fake punt run by Kolton Brodal pulling the Mustangs within eight after a successful two point conversion. Jake Ince scored his second touchdown of the game extending the Gobblers lead to 28-14. Mora’s Nick Nelson would score early in the fourth quarter bringing the Mustangs within eight once again. Late in the fourth quarter on a fourth and one play Aitkin would stop Mora and would take the win 28-20.
Mora finishes the season at 6-2 on the year. The Mustangs hold the #2 seed and will host #7 seed Brooklyn Center on Tuesday in the first round of the playoffs.
