Dragon Hockey Defeats the Rebels on the Road

The Dragons hockey team traveled to Moose Lake tonight to take on the Rebels. On a night where Pine City had 10 players out sick, both teams had very low numbers.

The Dragons struck first in the opening period on a goal from Tim Thole. But neither team scored again before the 1st period ended. The 2nd period was swamped with goals. Pine City scored 5 goals in the 2nd. Parker Sell(two goals), Seth Linnell, Jimmy Lindblom, and Gabe Westbrook were responsible for the Dragons goals. The Rebels added a goal of their own before the period ended. In the 3rd, the Dragons dominance continued as they added a seventh goal from Peyton Smetana. The Rebels weren’t able to overcome the six goal deficit, and the Dragons won 7-1.

Head coach Grant Nicoll said, "I thought we did a good job of distributing the puck and not playing selfish when things started to open up. All the underclassmen stepped up, the veterans did their thing, and Laven was forced to make a couple tough saves including a penalty shot late in the game."
