North Branch Boys Hockey Competes in Turkey Trot Tournament


The North Branch boys hockey team was at the Turkey Trot tournament last Friday and Saturday.

On Friday the Vikings faced Minnesota River. They easily topped the Bulldogs in a lopsided 8-0 victory. Junior Cody Croal netted the hat trick in the win, he added two assists which gave him five total points in the game. On Saturday, North Branch faced off against Simley. North Branch took the lead mid way through the 1st period, on a goal scored by Matt Dekanick. The Spartans tied up the game near the end of the 1st. Jesse Lesmann would score the only goal in the 2nd period giving the Vikings the 2-1 lead going into the 3rd period. Simley stormed the ice in the 3rd, with two unanswered goals giving them a 3-2 lead early in the final period. Dekanick scored the game tying goal, before Dawson Johnson would get the game winning goal with just under five minutes to play.

The Vikings start the season red hot at 3-0. For their next battle they will host Princeton on Thursday at 7pm.
