The Bombers boys basketball welcomed the Irish for a section battle on Tuesday night.
The Bomber offense got hot early on in the first half, jumping out to a 12-2 lead which forced a timeout from Maple Lake. This timeout though sparked the Irish team had lead to an onslaught of scoring. This didn't stop Braham from scoring by any means but Maple Lakes' offense seem to be hitting a few more shots than Braham and soon tied the game. They were not only able to tie the game but also take the lead. Helping them take the lead was making seven shots from beyond the arc in the first half. The two teams began to trade the lead late into the 1st half. The scoring streak would end and it was the defenses turn to make plays. Both squads did a good job of closing down lanes to the basket and getting hands in passing lanes, this lead to the score being stuck at 33-32 in favor of Braham until late in the half. Just before the break the Bombers offense came to life again and expanded their lead, Maple Lake wasn't far behind as they also hit a few shots before half. The Bombers went into halftime leading 40-37.
The Bombers started the 2nd half right where they left off in the first, scoring early and often. This time the Irish couldn't seem to find an answer and were held scoreless for some time. Just when the Bombers expanded their lead back to double digits the Irish decided it was time to mount a comeback. They would again shrink the Braham lead down to four points late in the game. However, Braham would not allow Maple Lake to come close to tying or taking the lead, as they would pull away and win 79-65.
With the win the Bombers sit at 6-4 on the season. They will travel to Pine City on Thursday for a conference battle against the winless Dragons team hungry for win number one.
