Braham Falls to Rush City in a Conference Battle

Braham hosted Rush City on Monday night.

The Bombers and Tigers went to battle on a early, but short week. The Bombers were looking to pull off a late season upset, and the Tigers were looking to keep their undefeated conference record in tact. Both teams came out not as polished as they would've hoped for. Neither team could really establish any momentum, when one team scored the other came right back to tie the game. This would continue up until Rush City got to double digits first, they then methodically pulled away and won the first set 25-10.

The second set got off to a shaky start for the Tigers due to some uncharacteristic mistakes. The Bombers were able to capitalize off these mistakes and take the lead. Not only did they take the lead, they built on their lead. The Tigers were trying to force some things to go their way which lead to more mistakes and Braham's lead continued to grow. The Bombers were in full control of the set and seemingly could do no wrong. But the Tigers fought back and never gave in. They didn't take a lead till late in the set but once they did, they quickly finished the set winning it 25-23. This wasn't so much the case of the Bombers getting comfortable or giving the set away, but more the Tigers resilience and dominance showing up when they needed it most. But there was one more set to be played and the Bombers looked primed to win one if not two sets. But it was evident early on in the third set, that Rush City used the comeback in set two as momentum and got off to a quick start. The Tigers early lead was too much to overcome for the Bombers, but they never gave up and fought hard to the end. The Tigers would eventually win set 3 25-11 and the match 3-0.

For the Tigers they remain undefeated in conference play and improve to 23-3 on the season. They will wrap up the regular season hosting Mille Lacs, in what will be the Great River Conference Championship on Tuesday night.

For Braham the loss gives them a 12-14 record, but this team is headed in the right direction. They'll host Ogilvie Tuesday night to finish off the regular season.
