Braham Flies Past McGregor for 5-0 Start

The Braham boys basketball team hosted McGregor on Monday night.

The Bombers had gotten out to a 4-0 start, with a victory over one of the conferences favorites East Central. It could be easy to look over a team like the Mercs, who came in with only one win. Braham would do no such thing.

They would get off to a hot start and were able to maintain that throughout the 1st half. The Bombers would push the pace and this allowed them to get out in front of the Mercs defense many times, which created plenty open shots. On the defensive side of things, the applied pressure at all times and it seemed almost lucky when the Mercs were able to get a shot off without a hand on the ball or in front of them. Tyler Eklund was playing on another level and before the 1st half ended he was able to reach a career milestone. Just before the half he would grab a rebound and take it coast to coast and lay it in for his 1,000th career point! His night was not over and after a short break to honor his achievement it was back to work. The Bombers would end the half with a 46-22 lead.

Braham wasted no time getting started in the 2nd half and they were so good they had built up a 30 point lead. But McGregor did a good job battling back and fighting to stay in it. They mounted a small comeback cutting their deficit to under 20. Just as quickly as they had done that, Braham had swung momentum back their way and once again were out to a 30 point lead. Towards the end of the game the Bombers were able to get in their JV guys and they kept up the pace. But shortly after, they took their foot off the gas and tried to take as much time off the clock with each possession. Braham had come away with the win 83-58.

The Bombers move to 5-0 to start the season and sit on top of the conference. They will host North Lakes Academy Tuesday, then travel to play reigning state champ Cherry on Thursday.
