Braham has received the first payment from the state for the city’s multiphase water infrastructure project.
According to an update from mayor Nate George, the city will begin the bidding process for work to begin in spring and summer of 2025.
"We'll also look forward to a groundbreaking ceremony to kick off this project, to celebrate all of the extremely hard work that has gone into getting this project planned, implemented, funded, and the ground broken to see physical change," George said.
A capital investment bill that passed in May of 2023 secured just over $10 million in state funding for the project.
George also said that Braham has received enough funding from outside sources to pay for the first phases of the project, including wastewater and water treatment plant upgrades, and the work plan to rehabilitate the city’s well #2.
The first phase of the city's sewer pipe and street replacement project will focus on West Central Drive, in the area around the northwest part of downtown Braham.
