A Brook Park man died in a fatal Kanabec County crash on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the state patrol incident report, a Chevy Silverado pickup was traveling westbound on Highway 23 in Whited Township around 12:15.
A Cadillac Eldorado coupe was heading eastbound. The Silverado attempted to pass a semi, and both vehicles swerved to the south shoulder and collided head-on.
The driver of the Cadillac, a 59-year-old Brook Park resident, died as a result of the crash.
The driver of the Silverado was identified as 16-year-old Timothy Simrell of Hutchinson. He was treated at Welia Hospital Mora for non-life threatening injuries.
The state patrol reported that the crash involved an un-belted vehicle occupant. Both the driver and passenger of the Silverado were wearing seatbelts.
The Kanabec County Sheriff's Office also assisted at the scene.
