Cambridge Police Department investigating assault incident; Cambridge Medical Center goes into lockdown

The Cambridge Police Department is investigating an assault incident that prompted the Cambridge Medical Center to go into lockdown on Friday.


According to a news release from the police department, officers responded to a call for service in the 1200 block of Garland Street South about an assault involving two individuals.


The suspect fled from the scene before officers arrived, and remained at large as of Friday afternoon. Investigators do not believe there is a threat to the community.


Authorities notified the Cambridge Medical Center about the incident, and according to the release, the Cambridge Medical Center made the decision to go into lockdown.


The Isanti County Sheriffs Office and the Chisago County Sheriffs Office are assisting with the investigation, which remains active.
