The city of Cambridge saw an increase in interim use permit requests regarding storage pods from city businesses earlier this month.
Five permit requests were a part of the council’s agenda after receiving numerous complaints regarding these pods on properties. The city had enacted an ordinance last year which categorized pod uses to business, permanent & temporary.
Council stated that pod usage on properties is never meant to serve as permanent alternatives to traditional storage spaces and that all permits are subject to approval based on criteria including location, duration and visibility to the public.
Council approved all the interim use permits that were presented, city staff stated that more applications are expected at the council’s next meeting.
