Residents of the Mora school district interested in running for a vacant school board seat will be able to file for candidacy in an upcoming special election in March.
According to superintendent Dan Voce, the candidate filing window for the May 13 election will run from March 4 through the 18th.
In November’s general election, Janel Murphy was elected to one of three open school board seats.
However, she withdrew from the race when her name was still on the ballot, and declined to serve. The seat’s term expires on Jan. 1, 2029.
Former board member Matt Heggernes was appointed to fill the vacancy in the interim.
Voting for the special election will take place on Tuesday, May 13, at Mora City Hall from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
