Demolition continues on old Mora High School

Mora Public Schools Superintendent Dan Voce said demolition on the old Mora High School is continuing into December.

Work on the site began in late September after asbestos abatement.

In an interview on the KBEK morning show on Monday, Voce said crews are currently focused on going through the building’s foundation and rubble to separate the metal.

The demolition was slated to be done by the end of November, but Voce expected the timeline to shift into early this month.

Voce also said the district is discussing options for selling property on Lake Mora.

"We'll look to sell that to some developers," Voce explained. "On the north side of Maple, it's zoned as residential, a couple different types of residential. And the parking lots I think are mixed business, residential business."

The district will continue to work with the city of Mora and Kanabec County on the development process.
