Dragons Shut Out Rebels Behind Miller's Four Goals

Pine City hosted the Moose Lake Area Rebels tonight in a Two Rivers Conference game.

In several games this season the Dragons have started out slow but pulled away late. Last night's game was the complete opposite as the Dragons were shot out of a cannon and never looked back. Pine City took no time opening up the scoring, as Seth Linnell scored the first goal in under two minutes. George Miller followed up with a goal of his own two minutes later. Parker Sell would score two more goals before the end of the 1st period.

The Dragons took their 4-0 lead into the 2nd period and built on their lead. Howie Hodena and Jimmy Lindblom both scored in the 2nd to give Pine City a 6-0 lead going into the final period. The Dragons matched their goal total in the first two periods, in the third period alone. George Miller scored three goals in a span of three minutes and 43 seconds, Jimmy Linblom, Jared Carpenter, and Luke Fabini scored the last three goals of the game. Alex Laven even got his name in the scorebook recording an assist on the final goal of the game. Head coach of the Dragons Grant Nicoll was pleased with how the boys played: "We preached to the boys that we should control the puck at all times, and they did a wonderful job of doing so."

Pine City finished off a strong 12-0 win over Moose Lake Area. Laven made nine saves in the shutout and he tied Pine City's all-time wins record for Pine City goalies. George Miller recorded his second straight hat trick and he now has seven goals and four assists in his last two games.

The Dragons move their winning streak now to 12 straight. They sit at 13-2 on the season and have a big matchup on Thursday night in Princeton against the Tigers. Moose Lake Area falls to 3-13 on the season. They will host Bagley on Friday night.
