The lady Dragons hosted rival Braham last night.
As soon as the game started, the Dragons scored their first points. But Braham held the game close halfway through the 1st half. Before long the Dragons found their rhythm, and showed their defensive dominance. Blocked shots, steals, and quick transition lead the Dragons to a 52-13 halftime lead. Pine City started the 2nd half much like they ended the 1st. And at the midway point of the final half, the starters were benched and the 2nd stringers would remain in the game. The Dragons bench players slowed the pace of the game, but played stellar defense and made good shot selections to extend the lead. Even with a young team, no seniors and three juniors, Braham never gave up and they continued to fight until the final buzzer. But the experience the Dragons have pushed them to victory 83-39. For the Bombers, Hannah Cornelius lead the team with 11 points and Nicole Duvernay scored 10. Ellie Hasz and Lily Wilson lead the way in scoring for the Dragons each with 20 points. Sophie Lahti finished with 14 followed by Kloey Lind with 11.
Pine City moves to 16-1 on the season and will host Foley on Friday night. Braham falls to 9-8, and will travel to play a tough East Central team on Thursday night.
