Community members looking to run for local elections in Pine City will have the opportunity to file for candidacy this coming Tuesday.
There are two city council spots and the mayoral position up for election this year. Council members serve for four years, and the mayor serves for two years.
Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, a resident of the city 30 days before the election, not be filed for the same or any other office on the ballot this coming election, and able to vote in Minnesota. An Affidavit of Candidacy, and other documents, can be found on the City of Pine City website.
Affidavits can be submitted with the $2 filing fee by mailing them to the City administrator, 315 Main St. S. Suite 100, Pine City, MN 55063, or using the Robinson Park dropbox or the drop box located outside the North entrance doors of City Hall.
Pine City School board candidates must also be 21-years of age, a resident of the school, and be eligible to vote in Minnesota. There are four school board spots up for election this November with board members serving four-year terms. Affidavits of Candidacy need to be filed with a $2 fee at the School District office. The filing period begins on Tuesday, July 28, and runs until 5 p.m. Tuesday, August 11.
