A Mille Lacs County man was arrested on four felony-level counts of disseminating child pornography last week.
28-year-old Isle resident Tyler Pettit previously served as a reserve deputy for the Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office.
In an update on Sept. 19, Mille Lacs County Sheriff Kyle Burton said he was notified a few months ago through the Internet Crimes Against Children task force about a reserve deputy allegedly distributing child pornography.
Burton immediately put the party on administrative leave and conducted a monthslong criminal investigation through the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation resulted in an arrest warrant for Pettit. Burton said he arrested and booked Pettit himself.
The Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office said Petite was released on bond.
