During a Wednesday afternoon press conference, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced his executive order requiring Minnesotans to require face coverings while in indoor businesses and indoor public settings.
Children under the age of 5-years-old and individuals with a medical condition, mental health condition, or disability that makes it unreasonable for the individual to maintain a face covering are exempt from the order.
Those in violation of this mandate could face a petty misdemeanor and face up to a $100 fine. Businesses in violation of the order could punishment face up to a $1000 fine.
The order is set to take effect on Friday, July 24, at 11:59 p.m.
Minnesota is one of 29 states in the US that require face coverings in some capacity.
