High School Boys Basketball Update

Let’s take a look at where the local boys basketball teams stand:

Braham 4-4

QRF Ranking 71st in State 4th in Section 5A East

The Bombers have had an up and down season to this point. They still hold a 4-4 record, but certainly hope to improve as the season continues. They will host Rush City tonight at 7pm.

Cambridge-Isanti 8-1

QRF Ranking 8th in State 1st in Section 7AAAA

The Bluejackets have only one blemish on the season, which came against an undefeated St. Cloud Apollo team who is also #1 in the state. The Bluejackets have been led by senior Henry Abraham, who is averaging an astonishing 34.2 points per game. As a team they are averaging 84 points per game. The Bluejackets will look to continue with their success as they travel to Big Lake tomorrow. Tip off for the game is at 715pm.

East Central 4-4

QRF Ranking 59th in State 2nd in Section 5A East

The Eagles started off the season with 3 straight wins, something they haven’t done since 2010. But the Eagles have struggled since, losing 4 of their last 5 games. The Eagles look to get back to their winning ways tomorrow night. They travel to Ogilvie to face the Lions at 715pm.

Hinckley-Finlayson 3-5

QRF Ranking 90th in State 7th in Section 5A East

The Jaguars sat at 2-5 until they beat one of the top Class A teams in the state, North Woods. With momentum from a big win maybe this can help the Jags turn the season around. The Jaguars host Pine City tomorrow as they face a red hot Dragons team. Tip off for the matchup is at 715pm.

Mora 4-4

QRF Ranking 69th in State 10th in Section 6AA

Mora started the season off at 1-3. But since that start they have played in two tournaments and have gone 3-1 over that span push them back to 4-4. The Mustangs will face off against Maple Lake at home tomorrow at 715pm. The Irish have struggled to score over 50 points this season.

North Branch 3-5

QRF Ranking 40th in State 5th in Section 7AAA

The Vikings started out the season red hot winning their first three games. But the hot start they had quickly diminished, as they have gone 0-5 since. The Vikings will look to get back on track as they host the #10 team in state, the Princeton Tigers tomorrow night.

Pine City 7-1

QRF Ranking 20th in State 6th in Section 6AA

The Dragons got a late start to the season, they were one of the last teams in the state to play their first game. But the late start didn’t hurt the Dragons, as they won 5 straight games before they suffered their first lost at the hands of the Proctor Rails. The Dragons have won 2 straight since their loss. The Dragons travel to Hinckley tomorrow night to play the Jaguars at 715pm.

Rush City 3-2

QRF Ranking 97th in State 14th in Section 6AA

The Tigers have not played a single game since December 19th, a game in which they won. Rush City has had three weeks to rest and prepare for their matchup against the Bombers. The Tigers travel to Braham tonight with tip off at 715pm.
