Kanabec County could reconsider an impassable road complaint in Hillman Township after declining to take action on a petition in 2023.
At issue is the north quarter mile of Hornet Street, which provides access to the home of residents Renee and Andy Crisman. The Hillman Township board has denied maintenance for that stretch of road.
According to an update from the Crismans, they’ve filed a motion for summary judgment on the invalidity of a resolution passed by the township board in 2021 acknowledging a loss of interest in the road.
The resolution states that the township hasn’t performed maintenance on the right of way for at least 42 years.
The Crismans said the county board has agreed to revisit the complaint if that resolution is declared void.
An agreement is also in place with the Mora School District to restore bus service if the township resolution is voided by the judge.
