Kanabec County fugitive taken into custody after fleeing task force agents

A Kanabec County fugitive was apprehended Tuesday night after fleeing agents of the East Central Drug and Violent Offenders task force.


According to a news release, 35-year-old Nicholas Neuschwander fled on foot in the area of 240th Avenue and Highway 47 near Ann Lake, north of Ogilvie, as task force agents attempted to encounter him.


The release states that after two hours of evading law enforcement, Neuschwander was taken into custody and transported to the Kanabec County Jail.


The Kanabec and Isanti County Sheriff’s Offices, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, state troopers, state air assets, and the Mille Lacs Tribal Police Department drone team assisted in the case.


The East Central Drug and Violent Offenders task force was established in 2012 and is comprised of criminal investigators from Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, and Pine counties.
