Kanabec County renews contract with Mora for economic development services

wcmpnews

The Kanabec County Board voted to renew its contract with the city of Mora for economic development services at Tuesday’s meeting.

The county EDA director position has remained vacant since former director Jim Hartshorn’s position was terminated in April of 2024.

Kanabec County is re-evaulating the EDA's structure and long-term staffing needs.

In July, the board of commissioners and city council agreed to have Mora community development director Kirsten Faurie provide assistance with economic development services on the county level.

Since that contract was approved, Mora has only billed the county for ten and a half hours. County projects are expected not to exceed five to ten hours a month.

The board unanimously passed the motion to renew the contract.
