Lauderdale man dies in single-vehicle I-35 crash

A Lauderdale man died Saturday after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 35 in Chisago County.


According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a Ford Escape was traveling southbound on 35 near North Branch when the vehicle drove onto the right shoulder. It overcorrected and slid sideways across the traffic lanes before rolling over into the median ditch.


The driver, a 37-year-old Lauderdale resident, died in the crash. He was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the crash report.


The vehicle’s passenger, a 36-year-old St. Paul resident, didn’t sustain any injuries.


The North Branch Police Department, Chisago County Sheriff’s Office, Lakes Regions EMS, and North Branch Fire department assisted at the scene.
