Milaca play Spectrum on Saturday night.
Milaca made the trip to Claire Lynch Arena on the campus of the College of St. Benedict, they were the final game of the day there. They were playing one of the top defenses in the section. But Milaca had been one of the top defenses all year as well.
In the 1st half it was all defense, points were at an ultra premium and neither side even had a chance to break out. Milaca had taken the lead early and held onto the lead for most of the 1st half. But just as the half was ending Spectrum went on a small scoring run and forced a couple turnovers and took the lead at half 15-14.
The Sting had managed to hold onto the lead for a short time, but then the Wolves offense finally came to life. It seemed as if they could not miss. But maybe the biggest reason their offense went on the tear they did was their defense. They sat defense wins championships, well what about a team whose defense can seamlessly switch to offense? Well Milaca made it look easy and it wasn't long before they had jumped out to a double digit lead and they never looked back. The 2nd half was all there's and they continued to dominate the rest of the game. The Wolves held the Sting to 20 points in the 2nd half, while they exploded with 47, to win 61-35.
The Wolves will now play in the section semi final on Tuesday vs Royalton, who narrowly escaped Albany. They'll play at 7:30pm back at the Claire Lynch arena.
