The Minnesota Department of Transportation will host a public open house about Highway 23 construction plans in Mille Lacs County on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
The event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Milaca Public School, located at 500 Highway 23 in Milaca. It's structured for visitors to come and go at their convenience.
Project staff will be available to answer questions and share design layouts for road work coming up in 2027.
According to a press release, MnDOT will be reconstructing the road and improving access from east of the Rum River Bridge to 105th Avenue.
A signal will be removed and a roundabout will be added at 23 and Central Avenue South, and a new multi-use trail will be installed along the north side of the project corridor.
A new sidewalk is also planned from Third Avenue Southwest to Fifth Avenue.
