Mora Falls to St. Francis in their First of Three Games this Week

The Lady Mustangs hosted St. Francis on Monday night.

A game that featured two teams who are fairly young, but one would be without one of their starters, and one had a bunch of height. Sadly, Mora had lost Abby Kelash for the year due to a knee injury. Early on you could tell they were learning how to play without her, and much like good teams do they adapted. It was a defensive battle early on neither team could get into rhythm and the defenses were playing exactly how they wanted. As the 1st half wet along, the Saints were able to use their height to their advantage, getting plenty of second chance scoring opportunities and rebounds defensively. The Saints eventually broke away and lead for the rest of the half. Despite the height difference, Mora did a really good job of boxing out and finding shots away from the length. Unfortunately they weren't able to get the shots to fall and trailed at half 55-34.

Mora had a bit of a slow start to the 2nd half, but they managed to quickly able to get out of that rut and the offense started to flow. The defense fed off the offenses production and they were able to force some turnovers and turn those into points. The Saints, not to be outdone, also grabbed plenty of turnovers and created points off of them. They did so a little more often than Mora which allowed them to hold on to the lead. The Mustangs showed immense improvement from the 1st half and continued to battle to the final buzzer. Mora would fall to the Saints 55-34.

The Mustangs will continue to grow and improve and should be excited with where their team is headed. They'll host Mille Lacs Tuesday night.
