A Mora woman was arrested Tuesday on two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, and multiple other charges after brandishing a hunting knife at Kanabec County deputies.
According to the criminal complaint, deputies arrived at a Highway 65 address around 7:30 p.m. to locate 41-year-old Amy Sandberg. Sandberg had a felony warrant out of Chisago County, and a conditional release violation warrant out of Kanabec County.
Sandberg's father invited the deputies into the residence, where she was locked in her room.
The deputies advised Sandberg that she was under arrest for her outstanding warrants, and she responded with profanities and threats to "shoot" the officers.
When one deputy was able to unlock the door, Sandberg aggressively pushed him back out of the room. The deputies then attempted several minutes of failed negotiation attempts for her to leave.
The second time a deputy unlocked the door, Sandberg produced a large hunting knife and began to swing it at the deputies. She then threw the knife, which narrowly missed both deputies and damaged the wall.
After she continued to forcefully resist, the deputies were eventually able to place Sandberg in custody.
A prescription container on her person contained a substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine.
In addition to the assault charges, Sandberg was also charged with two felony counts of making terroristic threats, a fourth-degree count of physically assaulting a peace officer, and a fifth-degree count of drug possession.
