Mustangs Fall at Home in Granite Ridge Conference Battle

Mora's boys basketball team hosted Albany on Tuesday night for a conference matchup.

Both teams entered the game without a blemish on their record. They each were looking to grab their first conference game of the new season.

Albany would get out to the fast start and started pulling away early on. Despite the electric start from the Huskies, Mora was able to get themselves on track and erase a double digit deficit. The Mustangs pulled themselves within 5 of the Albany lead 19-14. But that's when Albany's offense got hot once again and jumped back out to a 32-20 lead at half.

The 2nd half was the better of the two for Mora. The offense had figured a way around the tight defense of Albany. The Mustangs own defense tightened up and made things difficult in the back court, they were also able to grab a plethora of rebounds to help transition back to offense. Again Mora erased an Albany double digit lead and looked bound for a comeback. But late in the 2nd half the Huskies offense took over and kept a big enough lead to prevent the collapse. Unfortunately for Mora time was not on their side and already trailing they had to foul which sent the red hot Husky shooters to the free throw line. Albany was able to capitalize on these shots keeping their lead at plus 10. Although their opposition seemingly couldn't miss Mora showed no lack of heart as they fought to the very end but wound up running out of time. The Mustangs fell to Albany 66-54.

For Mora this loss sits them at 3-1 on the season and 0-1 in the conference. Up next for Mora they're supposed to play Chisago Lakes on Thursday, but weather could impact that game. They'll be playing in the holiday tournament in Pequot Lakes Dec. 27th and 28th.
