New Mental Health Program for Cambridge Emergency Responders

The city of Cambridge heard on a contract to help with firefighters and police officers at their June city council meeting.

After an incident earlier this year, the departments believed it necessary to offer behavioral health support to its front line employees.

A program called Par360 will provide emergency response, consultation and training to firefighters and officers to keep them mentally healthy, conflict free and successful in their jobs.

The program will also remove the stress that department chiefs have with dealing with mental health issues with employees and help reduce risk of suicide.

Margaret Gavian, Founder & Director of PAR360, explained how proper mental health for emergency personnel benefits all.

"When we protect people emotionally, it leads to better performance. That I think makes a healthier community." stated Gavian

The council approved of the new contract with PAR360 unanimously.
