The city of North Branch will be one of many recipients to be awarded a piece of over $8 million dollars in funding from the Minnesota Safe Routes to School program.
The program is designed to improve safety, reduce traffic and improve air quality near schools by making it safer and easier for students to walk and bike.
The city of North Branch approved of applying for the grant back in December of 2021 with the goal to use the funds to construct a walking and biking path along County Road 30 up to the North Branch Library.
The school district stated it was grateful for the city’s continued support for safety with students, no timeline has been set yet for the new path. For information on the Safe Routes to Schools Program, you can check out their website.
