From North Branch Police Department
On March 21st, 2020 at approximately 9:45 am the North Branch Police Department was dispatched to the report of a suspicious item on the side of the road on 420th St. approximately 1/2 mile east of Forest Blvd. Upon arrival Sergeant Janssen observed white PVC pipe that appeared to be an improvised explosive device and requested a member of the St. Paul Police Department Bomb Squad to contact him. A technician advised that they would be responding and to maintain road closure.
SPPD Bomb Technician's arrived and investigated the device and confirmed it was expended and safe to collect for evidence. The case is being investigated and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the North Branch Police Department about this device.
Chisago County Sheriff's Office assisted with the road closure as well as one of their investigators responded as well to assist.
