The end of the regular season is here, even though it feels like the season just began.. But now the playoffs are amongst us and let's take a look at where, when, and who each of our local teams will be playing this post season.
Class A
Braham 4th in Section 4, 12-6 record
The Bombers are enjoying their first regular season ending with a winning record since 2018! They already began play on Saturday. They fell in a close match against PACT Charter 2-1, but then went on to defeat Mayer Lutheran in the elimination bracket 11-1. They face a tough road back, but this is a team that surely won't go down easy. They face 6th seeded Lester Prairie at home on Tuesday for a chance to keep their playoffs alive.
Ogilvie 7th in Section 4, 6-11 record
The Lions began their playoff run this past Thursday in the play in game. Sadly, their season came to a close as the fell to Mayer Lutheran 17-4.
Mille Lacs 1st in Section 5 East, 13-5 record
The Raiders were on a tear through their schedule. 3 of their 5 losses came to teams who are in the top 10 ranking in the state. They'll have the target on their backs as the team to beat in the playoffs. They receive the first round bye and will await the winner of East Central and Deer River on Tuesday.
Hinckley-Finlayson 2nd in Section 5 East, 10-6 record
The Jaguars always seem to be near the top of the section, and it was no different this season. Only one loss in section play and that was against Mille Lacs. They also receive a first round bye and will play either McGregor or Hill City/Northland on Tuesday.
East Central 4th in Section 5 East, 1-14 record
The Eagles faced an uphill battle with their schedule. Despite only winning one game during the regular season there's a ton of optimism for the playoffs. They've been able to score plenty of runs this year, if they can make the game a shootout they should be the ones coming out on top. They face Deer River tonight.
Class AA
Foley 11th in Section 6, 7-12 record
There certainly won't be any teams overlooking the Falcons in the playoffs. This team is battle tested and ready to make a run. They face the 6th seed Melrose tonight.
Milaca 15th in Section 6, 1-16 record
Much like another team on this list, the Wolves schedule did them no favors. But their lone win did come against the now 6th seeded Melrose. This just might be the Cinderella team of this postseason. They'll play Albany tonight.
Rush City 3rd in Section 7, 13-3 record
The Tigers were once again racing for the top spot in the section. Three straight losses to close out the season certainly stings, but you can bet that has only fueled their fire even more. They'll host Duluth Marshall on Tuesday.
Mora 8th in Section 7, 6-12 record
The Mustangs may not have ended the season with the record they were hoping. But they have been competitive on every game they played. They'll host Mesabi East Tuesday.
Pine City 11th in Section 7, 5-12 record
The Dragons had an exciting season. It wouldn't surprise too many to see this team pull of an upset or two in the postseason. They'll travel to Aitkin on Tuesday.
Class AAA
Princeton 5th in Section 5, 9-11 record
This may be one of the few teams who finished with a losing record, but scored more points than their opponents on average. A team that got snubbed out of a better seeding, will take plenty of motivation to Monticello on Tuesday.
North Branch 2nd in Section 7, 11-8 record
Another oddity added to the list, a team who finished with a winning record but were outscored by their opponents on the season. The Vikings have one more regular season game today against Blaine. They'll host Duluth Denfeld on Wednesday.
Class AAAA
Cambridge-Isanti 5th in Section 7, 2-15 record
The Bluejackets were able to jump ahead in the seedings to the 5th seed. They'll will travel to Anoka on Wednesday.
