Storms cause power outages, damage in east central Minnesota

Severe Monday night storms caused power outages and damage across east central Minnesota.

East Central Energy reported outages impacting approximately 9,850 members in the Dalbo, Cambridge, and North Branch areas at about 8 p.m. on Monday.

As of 9:30 Tuesday morning, about 500 members in the Isanti, Cambridge, North Branch, and Shafer service areas remained without power.

ECE said crews were continuing to travel to the areas severely impacted by the storms.

The city of Cambridge reported relatively minor damage, including downed trees and limbs.

According to a news release, public works staff will be cleaning debris from Cambridge streets over the next few days.

The city will not be doing a curbside collection for debris on residents’ properties.

Isanti will be accepting debris from downed trees of any size at the city’s compost site. City crews have been clearing downed trees and opening storm drains.

North Branch law enforcement also reported multiple downed trees as a result of the storm.
