Wildcats Fall to Princeton on Friday Night

Chisago Lakes hosted Princeton on Friday night.

The game got off to a hot start, neither team wasted any time getting on the board. Princeton would score first on a Brody Kok 70 yard rush. But the Wildcats were not to be outdone, as they marched downfield and tied the game with a Braxton Bender-Ehlke score from one yard out. The Tigers would go on to score on their next three drives. Scoring twice on runs from Cullen Drews to end the 1st quarter 21-7. Then midway through the 2nd quarter the Tigers found the endzone again on a Noah Wells 44 yard rushing score to make it a 28-7 lead. The Wildcats last two drives ended in punts, even if they didn't score they needed their offense to get a drive that took a few minutes off the clock. They needed such to get their defense a rest. Luckily enough that's exactly what their offense was able to do. They drove the length of the field taking nearly 5 minutes off the clock. They were able to drive the ball inside the 5 and Bender-Ehlke would finish it off from on yard out again to cut their deficit to 28-14. The Tigers would get the ball back before the half and look to make it 5 straight scoring drives. But Chisago Lakes defense used that rest the offense provided them to gain momentum and stop the Tigers offense and force them to punt. The Wildcats would get one last opportunity to pull within one score, which would be a huge boost because they were starting the 2nd half with the ball. Sadly, their drive ended much sooner than they would've liked forcing them to punt, ending the half.

The Wildcats were unable to capitalize from receiving the 2nd half kickoff, giving the ball back to Princeton. The Tigers drive took most of the remaining time off the 3rd quarter clock, but only after another Wells touchdown putting them up 35-14. The next Wildcat drive ended early due to a fumble which was recovered by Princeton. The Tigers scored once again on a Kok rushing touchdown giving them a 42-14 lead. Chisago Lakes would finally get on the board again when Kellen Meissner punched it in from 2 yards out.

The Wildcats would attempt on onside kick, which was recovered by Princeton. The Tigers ran out the rest of the clock to seal the win 42-21.

The Wildcats now sit at 3-3 on the season, and will host Willmar this Friday for their final home game of the regular season.

Princeton remains undefeated at 6-0, and will host last years State Champions Hutchinson on Friday.
