Zimmerman woman arrested after firing shots, barricading in home

A Zimmerman woman was arrested Thursday morning after firing multiple shots at an occupied vehicle in her driveway and then barricading herself in her residence.


According to a press release from the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office, the vehicle was hit by multiple gunshots while a man was inside. He was not injured.


The woman, identified as 61-year-old Donna Becklin, then retreated into her residence in the 12800 block of 289th Ave. NW in Baldwin Township.


The victim called 911 at about 7:30 a.m. to report that Becklin was firing a .22 revolver at him.


Sherburne County's Emergency Response Unit was assisted by deputies and officers from the Elk River and Big Lake police departments.


Becklin eventually surrendered without further incident at about 11:10 a.m.


She was taken to the hospital for evaluation before being booked in the Sherburne County Jail on charges of second-degree assault.
